Spring Must-Do’s in the Lehigh Valley
Spring Must-Do’s in the Lehigh Valley
April 25, 2025
Every spring, the Lehigh Valley comes alive with natural beauty and lots of fun activities. You can go strawberry picking, take an amazing hike, enjoy one of the many outstanding parks, or celebrate with a food festival. The options are almost endless, but here’s just a few of our top “Must Do” activities for spring in the Lehigh Valley and beyond:
Get Outside and Enjoy Spring Weather!
After the long winter, spring is about getting outside, soaking up some sun, and enjoying the comfy temperatures. The Lehigh Valley has so much outdoor activities to offer, including:
Rope Climbing: At HangDog Outdoor Adventure in Easton, you’ll find the largest high ropes adventure course on the east coast. But don’t be too intimidated - beginners are welcome too! Once you finish with the course and ziplines, hang out at the brewery and enjoy some eats. They have popular local music acts on weekends all spring.
Hiking: The Lehigh Valley has lots of great hiking. For amazing views, try the Black River Sanctuary Trail (Bethlehem) or the Lehigh Gap East (Slatington). Spring is an especially good time to hike Hawk Mountain (Kempton). In late April and early May, you’ll see lots of hawks during their spring migration.
Whitewater Rafting! Spring is maybe the best time to go rafting on the Lehigh River, because the water levels are typically at their highest. They have whitewater releases scheduled in May for even more excitement. You can book your trip through Whitewater Rafting Adventure - they also have a zipline, mountain biking, and paintball.
Pick Your Own Fresh Fruit & Vegetables
There’s nothing like picking your own strawberries on a beautiful late spring day. They are so fresh and tasty, and the whole family enjoys the time outside. Here are some popular Lehigh Valley options:
Grim’s Orchards (Breinigsville): You can pick strawberries from late May to the end of June, and cherries from mid June through mid July.
Seiple Farms (Bath): In early June you can pick your own strawberries plus peas, sugar snap peas, and snow peas.
George Schmidt Berry Farm (New Tripoli): Starting in June, you’ll find asparagus, strawberries, rhubarb, sour cherries, sweet cherries, lettuce, sugar peas, pod peas, and snap peas.
The Produce Crib at Juniperdale Farms (Nazareth): Pick your own strawberries starting in late May, then pick cherries and black raspberries in June.
Springtime Fun for the Whole Family
The pleasant weather along with lower crowds makes spring a great time to do some of the Lehigh Valley’s biggest family attractions, including:
Dorney Park: The park opens with weekend hours on May 9th. Regular daily park hours for both Dorney Park and Wildwater Kingdom start May 24th. The earlier dates tend to be less crowded, so it’s a great time to visit the park before the summer rush.
Lehigh Valley Zoo: Similarly, the Lehigh Valley Zoo is a great place to visit in springtime. They offer some fun springtime events including the “May the 4th be with Zoo” Star Wars celebration and the May 11th Mother’s Day brunch.
Lehigh Valley IronPigs: They might be the boys of summer, but baseball is really enjoyable on a cool spring night. That’s especially true for the IronPigs, because they have many fun promotions happening during spring including a cap giveaway (May 10th) and lots of opportunities for post-game fireworks.
Enjoy Great Food and Drinks.
Food festivals really get going in Summer, but there are a few fun food and drink events happening in the Lehigh Valley in springtime too, including:
Bear Creek Mountain’s Spring Wine & Spirits Festival (Macungie): Bear Creek Mountain Resort is fun all year long, with biking, hiking, and swimming, in addition to winter skiing, snowboarding, and tubing. At the Spring Wine and Spirits Festival you can sample a long list of fine wine and spirits.
Mother’s Day Brunch at SteelStacks (Bethlehem): There’s always something fun happening at SteelStacks. On Mother’s Day (May 11th), take mom to brunch at the Musikfest Cafe. She’ll love the varied menu of super tasty foods!
Easton Street Eats Food Truck Festival (Easton): Downtown Easton is home to many popular festivals. On May 31st Easton gets transformed into a food truck mecca, where you can try something from all your favorite local food trucks.
