Fall Must-Do’s in the Lehigh Valley (and Beyond!)
October 10, 2024
The people of the Lehigh Valley are known for their fun-loving spirit. Every fall, the area is enchanted with pumpkins, cornstalks, and ghosts to make Halloween and the entire fall season more exciting and fun. Everywhere you look, there are festive fall festivals and spooky Halloween events. Here are Kay Builders' top “Must Do” activities for fall in the Lehigh Valley and beyond:
Fall Family Fun
There are tons of family-friendly activities and events happening all around the Lehigh Valley in the fall, including:
Halloween with the Animals! Take your kids trick-or-treating at Boo at the Zoo happening at the Lehigh Valley Zoo on weekends through October 27th. There are fun crafts, kids activities, and of course, the animals!
Halloween Parades! The Lehigh Valley is famous for their lively, spirited Halloween parades. A few of our favorites include the Emmaus Halloween Parade (October 19th), Easton Phillipsburg Halloween Parade (October 27th), and the Alburtis Halloween Parade (October 26th).
Fall Fun with Your Dog! Your dog is part of the family too! So bring your pups to Barktoberfest at the Promenade Shops on October 18-19th. Check out the dock-diving dogs (and maybe let your dog give it a try!), visit local dog-related businesses, support local shelters, enjoy dog-friendly shopping, and treat your dog to special events and treats throughout the shopping district.
Get Outdoors for Some Cool Fall Weather!
The weather in the Lehigh Valley is perfect in the fall with comfortable, sunny days, and cool, crisp nights. The leaves come alive with vibrant colors. If you enjoy getting outside and being physically active, you have plenty of options:
Go apple and pumpkin picking. The Lehigh Valley has many orchards and pumpkin patches. Here are a few of our favorites:
• Hausman Fruit Farm in Coopersburg has their Fall Festival Saturdays and Sundays through October 27th. The festival features free admission, hayrides, kids activities, breweries, baked goods, cider slushies, and more.
• Grim's Orchard and Family Farm is absolutely a “must do” event every fall. At their Fall Festival and Corn Maze, you can browse their pumpkin patch, go apple picking, try the corn maze, take a hayride, enjoy lots of treats, and much more.
• Bear Rock Junction is fun anytime, but it’s even more special in the fall. They have a pumpkin patch, corn maze with scavenger hunt, hayride, go-karts, Glow Golf, and more.
See the sights atop Hawk Mountain! There may be no better place to see the vibrant fall colors in Pennsylvania than at Hawk Mountain. Hike to the top, see the leaves, and watch the hawks soar during their fall migration.
Go for a Fall Run! Fall is a great time to go for a run with thousands of your running friends. At the Bethlehem Running Festival on October 18-20th, you can choose from a 5k, 10k, or Half Marathon. It’s one of the Lehigh Valley’s biggest running events of the whole year!
Scale new heights! Challenge the high ropes course at HangDog Outdoor Adventure, enjoy the amazing views, and then relax by the fire with a treat after you complete the course. Bring your dog for their Barktoberfest on October 19th.
Take a beautiful bike ride! Fall is the perfect time to ride along the D&L Trail. In addition to perfect weather, you’ll enjoy spectacular canal-side views with amazing fall colors. Prefer to run? Check out the D&L Racefest on November 10th.
Enjoy Great Food and Drinks.
With so many Fall festivals and events, you better believe there are plenty of food and drink options! Check these out:
ChiliFest (October 19th): Bethlehem’s SouthSide Arts District gets SPICY during ChiliFest! Try over 20 different chilis from area restaurants and cast your vote for your favorite. Then browse the district and enjoy all the amazing shops and restaurants.
Take a Fall Wine Tour! Did you know the Lehigh Valley now has 30 wineries? It might take you the entire fall season to visit them all. Maybe start in Breinigsville with Clover Hill, Vynecrest and then travel up to New Tripoli for Weathered Vineyards.
Find the Best Local Pumpkin Beer. Every year Lehigh Valley’s breweries look forward to fall because their pumpkin and Octoberfest beers are always very popular. Start your search at Seven Sirens (Bethlehem South Side and Easton), Funk Brewing (Emmaus and Allentown West Side), and Weyerbacher (Easton and Emmaus).
Celebrate Halloween in Spooky Splendor
The Lehigh Valley has lots of spooky tours in the fall months, including:
Take a Ghost Tour of Nazareth. Join the Moravian Historical Society for their Spooky Lantern-Led Tour through two of the oldest Moravian buildings in North America. Held during the last three weekends of October.
Go DEEP Underground at Crystal Cave. Take the original Crystal Cave tour from the 1870s - guided by ghostly lantern light! Hear ghost stories and the history of Crystal Cave like you’ve never heard it before. Happening on Weekends in October.
Visit the Ghosts at the Historic Sayre Manson. The paranormal activity at the Sayre Mansion in Bethlehem has received national attention. Take a ghost tour through the most active areas and maybe see the ghosts for yourself!
Walk through Historic… and maybe HAUNTED Easton! Take the Eerie Easton Walking Tour and learn about all the murder, mischief, and misadventure that has happened on these streets! Available Friday-Sunday through October 27th.
